"Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads"

'They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English.

I can't even talk the way these people talk:

Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.

And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth
In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.

People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.

The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal.

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids.

$500 sneakers for what?

And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit.

Where were you when he was 2?

Where were you when he was 12?

Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol?

And where is the father? Or who is his father?

People putting their clothes on backward:
Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?

People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?

Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?

What part of  Africa  did this come from??

We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about  Africa  .....

I say this all of the time.  It would be like white people saying they are  European-American.  That is totally stupid.

I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents.  I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to  Germany  ,  Scotland ,  England , Ireland , or the  Netherlands  .  The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards to  Africa  .  So stop,  already! ! !

With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap .........
and all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.

We have got to take the neighborhood back.

People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.

We have millionaire football players who cannot read.

We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job.

Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.

We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.

We cannot blame the white people any longer.'

REFORM THIS WEEK INC BALLS' UP & DOWN

Reform – The Week

This week saw a new realism gripping government as both politicians and Whitehall acknowledged the need for reductions in public spending. Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary, took the unprecedented step of warning that there would be sweeping cuts in public services, while Lord Mandelson and for the first time Gordon Brown acknowledged that there would be “tough choices”. But a growing number of commentators, including the Telegraph’s Ben Brogan and the Times’ Danny Finkelstein, argued that tax rises would be necessary in addition to spending cuts to bring the deficit under control. Politicians must be wary of stunting economic growth as the UK begins to exit the recession.

Dale Bassett, Editor

Reformer of the week

Lord Mandelson, who acknowledged that “there will be spending choices and a growing need for greater efficiency across the board, and less spending in some programmes”.

Reactionary of the week

Professor Alice Rogers, Vice President of the London Mathematical Society, for advocating a faux maths A-level as the solution to widening post-16 maths participation.

Good week for

Education reform

Michael Gove proposed that academics take a greater role in setting school exams, and Sir Cyril Taylor advocated replacing league tables with a much greater wealth of accessible information. Meanwhile Oxford University’s outgoing Vice Chancellor advanced the case for the university’s privatisation.

Crime kingpins

A new government report on serious organised crime proposed that all regions should establish dedicated police units to fight the growing threat, but offered little in the way of incentives or funding.

Shrinking the state

A report urged Ireland to cut 17,500 public sector jobs and 5 per cent of social welfare spending to save £4.6 billion a year.

Bad week for

Spending restraint

Lord Adonis became the latest Cabinet Minister to argue for ringfenced spending, while the Centre for Social Justice proposed unfunded tax advantages and counselling for married couples.

Accepting the inevitable

The Government published a long-awaited look at long term social care, sensibly resisting the temptation to load the whole financial burden onto the taxpayer. However the options should be widened to include greater insurance input.

Green shoots

As unemployment breached 2.38 million, the IMF warned that the UK’s economic recovery remains uncertain and is set to be both “slow and subdued”.

Quote of the week

“This week, in a report called Every Family Matters, Iain Duncan Smith’s Centre for Social Justice repeated its demand, which is now Conservative party policy, that marriage be recognised in the tax system. It is strange to see Conservatives, who usually disparage the capacity of government to make the world a better place, turn into Ed Balls when it comes to marriage.”

Philip Collins

Reform’s week

Reform launched its new report, Productive parents, at an event with Maria Miller MP and Shirley Conran OBE. The report was covered by
BBC OnlineThe Financial Times, Children and Young People Now, Nursery World, Bytestart, The Daily Telegraph, Community Newswire, Ask a Mum, Progress Online, Mumsnet and Made for Mums. Reform’s Patrick Nolan wrote for the Spectator and ConservativeHome. Elizabeth Truss wrote for the Yorkshire Post and Thomas Cawston wrote for the Daily Mail.

There was further coverage of Educators for Reform’s submission to the QCA consultation on the new Use of Maths A-level, including the Guardian, Mail, Liverpool Daily Post, Press Association, TES, THE and Tim Gowersblog. Reform’s report A new level was also discussed in the Independent and on the Guardian website.

Reform continued to debate the future of public spending, on CentreRight, the Guardian, the FT, The World Tonight (at 14:36) and The Week in Westminster (at 8:40).

Elizabeth Truss, Deputy Director of Reform, appeared in a feature in the Observer.

Reform held a seminar with Nick Herbert MP discussing the future of water policy.

WHY AM I STANDING AS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE FOR THE EURO ELECTIONS 4 JUNE 2009?

WHY AM I STANDING AS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE FOR THE EURO ELECTIONS 4 JUNE 2009? [This is an open group eliciting innovative ideas to affect root and branch reform of both European and British political governance on Facebook]

Dear All

I am standing as an Independent Candidate for the Jury Team which is a team [not a political party] of disparate Independent Candidates making a stand for the common good - to change the political governance of European and British Parliament.

Our liberty and freedom are based on the Magna Carta. This introduced the idea that nobody is above the law; not even the King or the Queen. Certainly not the MPs.

Why the name - Jury Team?

* For nearly 800 years since that charter was signed, the jury has been our fundamental protection against abuse by the government
* We have kept faith with the jury system to reach important, judicious verdicts. We trust them more than the decisions made by the paid elite.

Why the Jury Team?

* The politicians both in Europe and Westminster are disconnected and distant.
* They are out of touch with your needs.
* The political party system is broken.
* The parties are run by a small and increasingly cliquey group of interchangeable politicians.
* Less than 1% of the UK population belongs to a political party.
* Less than 20% of the electorate actually voted for the current government.
* The parties are just glorified employment bureaux for career politicians.
* Many of these would not be able to earn that much in any other career. That is why they milk the system.
* These MPs have to obey the party whip in order to get ahead. They become lobby fodder and patsies.
* They cease representing you and start representing themselves and their parties.
* The government always has the majority of MPs who are coerced by whips to vote for war, ID cards etc.
* This is not the parliament the British people desire and deserve.
* The Jury Team was founded to get real change in the European and British political governance.
* The Jury Team is based on Nolan Principles [Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty and Leadership] to serve their constituents and their country, not themselves or their party.
* The Jury Team held an open on-line primary to select candidates for the imminent European elections using the X Factor style text vote in which most of you took part. As a result we are the candidates that you [the public] selected.

We form a great jury. We are united by three guiding principles.

* Politics for the People
* Politics with Principles
* Politics without Parties

Built on these there are five policies for the European Elections:

* The Jury Team MEPs will represent you, not any party line or whip, and vote in line with the needs of constituents and the Country.
* MEPs must be above any suspicion. Expenses to be approved only against receipts to be published along with any outside earnings. Their pension to be brought down in line with average for the European private sector.
* MEPs must be stopped going native on the gravy train. * MEPs should serve no more than three five-year terms.
* Formation of external body with real teeth to keep MEPs honest. The European Parliament should set up an Independent MEPs Complaints Commission to investigate accusations about MEPs and their staff.
* A mark on the ballot paper every five years no longer keeps the politicians in check. You should be able to express what you think is important. Referendums should be held whenever requested by 5% of the electorate.

What would be my personal contribution?

In line with my Independent Parliamentary Candidacy in May 2005 on the platform of Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusion and Social and Political Justice I would further fight for:

* Making both the European and British Parliament truly representative of the very diversity that elects it.

* Directly elected House of Lords to make both houses fully accountable.

* Directly elected Prime Minister but with proper regard to the British funding constraints and indirectly implied obligations and undue influence akin to the American model.

* Change in our electoral system in line with European model based on PR [Proportional Representation]

* Separating the legislative and the executive - with British Cabinet chosen by the PM but not not sitting in Parliament. This way the whips will be eradicated and the House of Commons can properly begin to scrutinise the House of Lords and holding the Government to account for you - the people.

So, what can you do to clean up politics?

Make sure that you, your family, your extended family, your friends, colleagues and acquaintances come out to vote for the Jury Team on the 4 June 2009 to send a clear message to the European and British Parliament.

Both Dr David Starkey and I are of the firm belief that this is once-in-a-lifetime, unique, and unmissable opportunity to bring on a British innovation, revolution and a root-and-branch reform our political governance. That is what Tom Paine [a Founding Father of United States] argued and struggled for in the 18th century.

Be a stakeholder in this august opportunity. In years to come the citizens of Britain will be proud to have innovated and implemented such a change in our political governance preserving the public purse and, with it, the public trust.

MPs' expenses row still prominent in all newspapers

MP expense claims continue to dominate coverage

Oliver Cromwell's Speech on the Dissolution of the Long Parliament given to the House of Commons
20 April 1653

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd  the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone!

So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!

I am glad to see this first dawn of the new beginning of the end of gender inequalities in the Arab World.

THE INDIAN ELECTIONS - NEW YORK TIMES

It is truly the greatest show on Earth, an ode to a diverse and
democratic ethos, where 700 million + of humanity vote, providing
their small part in directing their ancient civilization into the
future. It is no less impressive when done in a neighbourhood, which
includes de-stabilizing and violent Pakistan, China, and Burma.

Its challenges are immense, more so probably than anywhere else,
particularly in development and fending off terrorism -- but
considering these challenges and its neighbours, it is even more
astounding that the most diverse nation on Earth, with hundreds of
languages, all religions and cultures, is not only surviving, but
 thriving.

The nation where Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism were born,
which is the second largest Muslim nation on Earth; where Christianity
has existed for 2000 years; where the oldest Jewish synagogues and
Jewish communities have resided since the Romans burnt their 2nd
temple; where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile
reside; where the Zoroastrians from Persia have thrived since being
thrown out of their ancient homeland; where Armenians and Syrians and
many others have to come live; where the Paris-based OECD said was the
largest economy on Earth 1500 of the last 2000 years, including the
2nd largest only 200 years ago; where 3 Muslim Presidents have been
elected, where a Sikh is Prime Minister and the head of the ruling
party a Catholic Italian woman, where the President is also a women,
succeeding a Muslim President who as a rocket scientist was a hero in
the nation; where a booming economy is lifting 40 million out of
poverty each year and is expected to have the majority of its population in the
 middle class, already equal to the entire US population, by 2025;
where its optimism and vibrancy is manifested in its movies, arts,
economic growth, and voting, despite all the incredible challenges and
hardships; where all the great powers are vying for influence, as it
itself finds its place in the world.

Where all of this is happening, is India, and as greater than 1/10 of
humanity gets ready to vote, it is an inspiration to all the World.

 — V Mitchell, New York, NY

This is great reporting. This is how I would have summed it to demonstrate the oldest, largest and the greatest democracy and the most diverse nation on Earth "directing their most ancient civilization into the future."

This is beyond compare.  V Mitchell's report is the best news from which our community here can thus be enthused to 'repeat the business' turning up and turning out at 60% + to vote this time in the Euro Elections and especially in the General Election which not so far.

Reform – The Week

Reform – The Week

This week’s expenses revelations are a graphic illustration of a broader point – people are now aggressively questioning the value for money of public institutions. As well as putting their own house in order, politicians should take a closer look at all public expenditure and decide what really does offer the taxpayer value for money.

Dale Bassett, Editor

Quote of the week

“How do you keep talented lower-class people at the bottom of the heap? You would devise a system of education that values equality and solidarity more than academic achievement … Young proletarians shouldn't be educated beyond society's needs. Any sense of resentment will be soothed by feel-good qualifications. And if the young people conceive that their qualifications should allow them into university, this should be encouraged. But how to explain the lack of suitable places? Aha! The concept of ‘parity of esteem’. This extends equality theory by persuading students that the institution formerly known as Scunthorpe Catering College is now a university and is as good as Cambridge.”

MORAL MORASS DEVOID OF MORAL COMPASS

Cabinet expenses under scrutiny

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8039108.stm

This is as murky as it gets before the annihilation of the New Labour experiment that was based on pretence and powerful persuasive presentation. It has been politics without backbone, honesty and down right British sense of justice and decency. It has to go for the sake of Britain and its people. Below is a protest that I with all other Jury Team Candidates will be sending to the Chairman of the HM Revenue & Customs

Mike Clasper CBE
Chairman
HM Revenue and Customs
100 Parliament Street

Dear Mr Clasper

In light of today's press, does HM Revenue and Customs have any plans to look at MPs expenses? There is obviously some doubt about whether many of the expenses incurred are wholly necessary for the execution of MP's duties. Additionally, it is not clear whether the expenses allowances granted to MPs was used exclusively for the purposes intended.

As an independent candidate standing on the Jury Team platform in the forthcoming European Elections,  I note that adoption of the Jury Team principles would prevent this from happening in the future.

I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely

Legacy of the Raj

  • 23 April 2009

Born in Mumbai, Mihir Bose has won numerous awards for his wide-ranging journalism over four decades. Now the BBC’s sports editor, he reflects here on democracy in India – and asks if the British really wanted their former colony to survive

Looking back to my paper submitted to then Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott 4 December 2004:

"research in Ethnic Pluralism & Social Cohesion indicates that (i) Immigration has not undermined national integrity (ii) Some immigrant groups have progressed well, others not (iii) Labour market integration has been unwisely downplayed (iv) Discrimination persists & thus affects social trust (v) High risk, alienated, left behind groups are the priority (vi) Building common glue is vital but so is the need to avoid overly prescriptive, threatening answers. Promoting solidarity depends on underlying (in)equality in a three-way triangular relationship thus solidarity <> equality <> diversity. Thus building greater & more explicit cohesion across ethnic lines depends on (i) understanding recent history (ii) learning the lessons of how economic integration has worked abroad and (iii) systematically tackling settled disadvantage."

The Deputy PM's Community Plan has completely missed Community Cohesion as a critical issue within it. I am arguing that where there is no injustice, unfairness &/or inequality - there can be no strife, dissatisfaction, disappointment, disaffection, complaint or grievance.

In order for Britain to effectively manage and address the internal risks of communal violence and (putting it bluntly) threats of terrorism from left behind groups, it has to pay heed to my assertions in the third paragraph (last page) that Discrimination persists & thus affects social trust.

Rest is history.
